🍽️ The Dish: Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Bake
This recipe is the perfect balance of comfort food and gourmet flavor—tender, juicy chicken breasts baked in a rich garlic-Parmesan cream sauce and topped with a golden, bubbly layer of cheese. It’s easy enough for a weeknight, but impressive enough for guests.
🛒 Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for a little color)
For the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 cup heavy cream (or whole milk for a lighter version)
- ½ cup chicken broth
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional, but adds a subtle warmth)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Topping:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)
👩🍳 Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2–3 minutes per side until golden (they don’t need to be cooked through yet).
- Transfer the seared chicken to a baking dish.
Step 2: Make the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to create a roux.
- Slowly add the chicken broth and cream, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
