Don’t you hate it when you buy something at the grocery store and realize it’s not as fresh as you thought when you get home?

I can’t count the number of times I’ve bought a bag of apples only to find out that two of them were spoiled. Or when you buy a carton of eggs, forget to check them and then realize they’re broken? I’ve even had the misfortune of picking up a loaf of bread that was already starting to go moldy!

On the other hand, I can safely say that I have never encountered a snake during my weekly classes…

I’m sure few of our readers have encountered crawling reptiles hiding among their fruit and vegetables, but one man from Birmingham, UK, has.

Neville Linton was in an Aldi store last year when he bought a pile of broccoli. But when he got home he nearly jumped when he discovered a live snake wrapped in his purchase.

The 63-year-old was preparing a meal when he spotted the non-venomous snake, later identified as a ladder snake, near the stem of his broccoli.

“It was pretty scary. “I’m not good with snakes,” Neville said.
