Bedbugs and fleas are two common culprits that can cause itchy bites, sleepless nights, and a lot of stress. But while they might seem similar at first glance, there are key differences between them — both in how they behave and how to eliminate them effectively.

Here’s how to spot the differences, and more importantly, how to get rid of them for good.

😬 The Signs: How to Know What You’re Dealing With

Signs of Bedbugs:

  • Small rust-colored or blood spots on sheets
  • A sweet, musty odor
  • Exoskeletons (shed skins) near mattress seams
  • Bites in a linear or zigzag pattern, especially on arms and neck

Signs of Fleas:

  • Pets scratching excessively
  • Small black droppings (flea dirt) on pets or bedding
  • Flea eggs or larvae in carpets or upholstery
  • Bites around ankles or legs, often in random spots

🧹 How to Get Rid of Them

🛏️ Getting Rid of Bedbugs:

  1. Deep clean bedding and clothing – Wash in hot water and dry on high heat.
  2. Vacuum thoroughly – Focus on mattress seams, bed frames, baseboards, and cracks.
  3. Use a steam cleaner – Bedbugs can’t survive high heat.
  4. Encasements – Use bedbug-proof mattress and pillow covers.
