Trim and Refresh!
- Give your basil a haircut: Use clean scissors to snip off about one-third of the plant, focusing on the top leaves and any yellowing or damaged parts. This reduces the plant’s stress and encourages new, healthy growth.
- Check the soil: If the soil feels soggy or dry to the touch, repot the basil into fresh, well-draining soil mixed with a bit of perlite or sand.
- Water smartly: Water the plant thoroughly but allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Make sure excess water drains out.
- Find a sunny spot: Place your basil in a bright window or outside if the weather permits.
- Mist lightly: Basil loves humidity, so a light mist with water in the morning can help keep it happy.
Bonus Tip: Feed Your Basil!
Once revived, give your basil a gentle feeding with a diluted liquid fertilizer every couple of weeks during the growing season to keep it flourishing.
With this simple trim-and-refresh hack, your basil plant will bounce back, giving you fresh leaves for your favorite recipes all season long!
