🥄 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef Filling
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and let simmer for 5 minutes to intensify flavor. Set aside.
Step 2: Prebake the Crusts
If using homemade dough, roll out two 12-inch rounds. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden but not too crisp. Brush with olive oil and a sprinkle of cornmeal for that authentic pizza texture. If using store-bought crusts, warm them lightly to make them pliable.
Step 3: Assemble the Bottom Layer
Place one crust on a baking tray. Spread half of the burger sauce generously across the base. Layer with half the cooked beef, followed by mozzarella, cheddar, and a few slices of American cheese. Add pickles, red onions, and tomatoes.
Step 4: Add the Second Crust
Place the second pizza crust over the first stack like a sandwich. Press gently to compact slightly. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds for a burger-bun effect.
Step 5: Top the Stack Like a Pizza
Spread the remaining burger sauce over the top crust. Sprinkle with the remaining beef, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese. Add a few more onions, pickles, and sliced tomato for full cheeseburger flair.
Step 6: Bake to Perfection
Bake the entire stack in a preheated oven at 400°F (205°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until the top cheese is fully melted and bubbly, and the crust edges are golden and crisp.
Step 7: Add Finishing Touches
Remove from oven and let rest for 3–5 minutes. Top with shredded lettuce, drizzle with ketchup and mustard (if using), and slice like a deep-dish pizza stack.
